The Seven Currents · Pattern, structure & measurement
Mathematica
To understand patterns, quantities, relationships, and the structures through which we make sense of the world.
Mathematica examines how things relate. Number, measurement, proportion, and logical structure give precision to inquiry. This Current connects abstract understanding with the practical work of describing, comparing, building, and solving.
Putting the Current into practice
Measure and compare
Choose appropriate quantities and units, and consider the accuracy of a measurement.
Explore patterns
Study relationships, proportion, and structures; ask whether an apparent pattern holds.
Explain a solution
Show the reasoning behind a result so another person can follow and examine it.
The path of learning
The progression within Mathematica is Tiro, Legio, then Dux. Each stage joins understanding with the ability to put it into practice.
Tiro · Beginner
Learn foundational reasoning, number, measurement, and the clear expression of relationships.
Legio · Practitioner
Apply mathematical understanding to problems, explain methods, and assist Tiros with their learning.
Dux · Master teacher
Teach structure and reasoning, evaluate solutions and understanding, and maintain clarity in the Current’s work.
How advancement works
Legios evaluate a learner’s work and make recommendations. The Duces hear the evidence and vote. The Legate presides over the process and does not vote.
A Current rank describes development within that Current. Membership status and an office of service in the Aedes describe other responsibilities and can overlap with a Current rank.
A place within the whole
Mathematica is one of the Seven Currents. Its work contributes to the wider life of Logosianism while retaining its own field of study and practice.
